In the Ashtanga Vinyasa system, asanas are performed in a specific order, “Krama,” ‘unlocking’ the body with an intelligent and scientific approach, each pose preparing the body for the ones to come. Each Asana has specific benefits for the practitioner and when combined into a flowing sequence have the effect of realigning and detoxifying the body and the nervous system as well as developing strength and flexibility along with improving general health and well being. Primary series are the very foundation of the Ahtanga Vinyasa method and undoubtedly one of the most effective sequences ever developed. During this intensive course we will gradually explore all the postures in the sequence both in its traditional Mysore and Led formats, experimenting with different techniques, adjustments and modifications aimed at facilitating the “tailoring” of the practice to ones circumstances. This course will be extremely valuable for both practitioners and Teachers from other yoga traditions that are looking to establish a consistent self practice from which to draw upon.
